RODION  SHCHEDRIN

  Shchedrin Rodion Konstantinovich (born in 1932) - Soviet and Russian composer and pianist, teacher. People's artist of the USSR (1981). Laureate of the Lenin prize (1984), the state prize of the USSR (1972) and the state prize of the Russian Federation (1992). Author of 7 operas, 5 ballets, 3 symphonies, 14 concerts, numerous works of chamber, instrumental, vocal, choral and program music, music for cinema and theatrical productionsShchedrin's work is unique in that he did not adhere to any particular style, his music is multifaceted. Rodion Shchedrin wrote for his wife, ballerina Maya Plisetskaya, the ballet "the Lady with the dog", "Seagull", "Anna Karenina". He is a jury member of many international competitions and the author of many articles and books.

  He was awarded the Russian order of merit for the Fatherland III degree (2002), II degree (2007) and IV Degree (2012). He is the winner of the Shostakovich Prize (1992), the Crystal Award of the world economic forum (1995), the Russian national theatre award "Golden Mask" (2009). In 2012 Shchedrin was awarded a diploma and a medal of the Moscow prize winner.
In 2016, he was awarded the medal "Honored artist of music". The composer is an honorary Professor at the Moscow Conservatoire, the St Petersburg Conservatoire and the Beijing Central Conservatoire.
