Rinat Kuramshin - Russian and British painter and graphic artist, ethnographer and public figure; Honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts. He is known as the author of a series of portraits of outstanding historical figures and genre paintings on the theme of Soviet history. In addition to portraits and genre painting, he created many works on ballet and theatre themes, as well as drawings and etchings for literary works.
Rinat Kuramshin’s genre paintings were created mainly in 1970-1990, during the era of socialist Russia (USSR) of the second half of the twentieth century. Among his the most famous genre paintings: "Hay Time", "Washerwomen. Wives of soldiers", "Mug of Milk", "Boy and Herd", "Horses on the River. Evening", "Girl and Geese", "Countryside Holiday", "Front Song", "Anna Akhmatova in Tsarskoye Selo", "Morning Road", "Bathing of Horses" and others.
Rinat Kuramshin has gained international recognition as a portrait painter. During his career, he painted a series of portraits of world-famous composers, playwrights, musicians, choreographers, opera and ballet artists, patrons and other outstanding personalities who have made a great contribution to the development of world culture. Many portrait paintings have been commissioned by governments, corporations, associations, community organizations and individuals.
One of the sections of the Museum exhibition is dedicated to the theme of theatre, ballet and classical dance. To create these work, Rinat Kuramshin cooperated with choreographers and ballet dancers, musicians and opera singers who worked on the greatest theatrical stages of Russia, Great Britain, France, Italy and other European countries. The paintings were created under impressions from theatrical stage and backstage life of the Bolshoi Theatre, the Mariinsky Theatre, the Mikhailovsky Theatre, Covent-Garden, Grand Opera and other theatres.
Paintings and graphic works created by Rinat Kuramshin took part in many international exhibitions and often received admiring reviews from experts, art critics, art collectors, museum specialists. His paintings were awarded medals and diplomas of the Russian Academy of Arts, Cambridge University, the Coordinating Council of Russian compatriots of Great Britain, Federal Agency Rossotrudnichestvo, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the CIS Executive Committee, other Russian, British and international organizations.
Rinat Kuramshin’s works can be found in museums, corporate and private collections in Russia, Great Britain, France and other countries.
