EMPEROR  ALEXANDER III  1845-1894

  Alexander III - Emperor of Russia.  Alexander III for the maintenance of peace was nicknamed the king-Peacemaker. The Emperor gave direct support to the formation of Russian Opera in Russia, carried out a change of persons who determined the development of music in Russia. In place of the former Director of the Imperial theaters appointed I. Vsevolozhsky, was invited Director E. Napravnik, composer p. Tchaikovsky. The Emperor has provided significant financial support for productions of the operas on the stages of the Imperial theatres. Was staged by the famous Opera of Tchaikovsky: "The Oprichnik", "The Blacksmith Vakula" and "maid of Orleans", "Mazeppa", "The enchantress," "Eugene Onegin," "Queen of spades", "Iolanta".

  He allocated funds to complete the construction of the Tiflis theater, which was named after Z. Paliashvili. He provided great financial assistance to the Moscow Conservatory. Contemporaries highly appreciated the contribution of Emperor Alexander III in all areas of cultural life in Russia.
